A party with friends

On October 9, 2019, the school extension was ceremonially handed over with many celebrities and project participants on hand. City Councilors Jürgen Czernohorszky, Kathrin Gaál, Education Director Heinrich Himmer and many more were present. They all gave enthusiastic speeches about the building extension, which not only has many technically sophisticated features, but conveys values through architecture and design. The entire project was realized in a short time. Everyone also honored Smarter Together, which launched the idea thanks to EU funding and made a significant contribution to the sustainable, climate-friendly concept. The list of those who contributed to the common success is impressive, and special thanks are due to each and every participant: A big thank you!

A special party for the kids

The ceremonial handover of the school extension was also a celebration for the children and youngsters who attend the school. It was also a special day for teachers. The new , light-filled school with modern architectural design and color concept simply makes you want to go to the school. Everyone agreed on this. The school choir and the kids who performed a poem written especially for the occasion showed authentic joy at the new school building's opening.  The two Enzi-benches from MuseumsQuarter (MQ) which were painted by the kids were particularly popular. Many school-kids in groups of two or more like to linger there even after school. This is the proverbial school of the future!

Balu & Du, GB * and the very nice school director

The street workers of Balu & Du contributed to the opening day which became a special party for the kids too. Together with the urban renewal office (GB *), they performed a kid’s and parent’s programme in the forecourt on the day of Viennese schools. They asked school children to think about climate protection and to paint their ideas on the floor of the forecourt with chalk. In this way, low-threshold political education and valuable social commitment were imparted. Everyone was able to take part in the giant bubble blowing too. The GB * was present with the cargo bike of Smarter Together and with all sorts of information material, including from the Science Pool and the MuseumsQuarter (MQ), which had provided the Enzis.

Special thanks also go to the dedicated director of Sport-NMS, Ms. Dn. Martina Vogel – Waldhütter BEd., who put together a small school building exhibition in the main hall and came up with beautiful souvenir butterflies. In particular, she enabled the children to participate in the actions of Balu & Du. Happy children who are taken seriously in their basic rights and needs are simply the best guarantor of school success! Thanks.
