Smarter Together is about finding smart city solutions, not just for the Lighthouse cities, but also for the follower cities and beyond. Replicable solutions that improve the lives of urban residents is the ultimate goal for Smarter Together.
Venice, Italy is a follower city of Smarter Together and recently held a conference with delegates from Munich and Vienna with municipal councillors for mobility and public works to discuss smart strategies potentially replicable for Venice. After a productive two days looking for innovative solutions in areas including urban mobility, energy efficiency, renewables and renovation of eco-compatible buildings, the Smarter Together BusLab was opened.
The BusLab has the mission of engaging citizens in what Smarter Together is doing in the area and to collect ideas, suggestions and criticisms from residents of the Gazzera district. Venice’s Councillor for Mobility, has said: ‘[Smarter Together] is very important for Venice, which wants to keep up with the main European cities also in the field of innovation. At Gazzera we have embarked on a significant path of sharing with the citizens, to think of our city of the future, but we are also taking concrete actions in the present.’ You can read more here.
